Comparative differences between quartz crucible and corundum crucible

Release time:2024-04-02Views:146

The main raw material for quartz crucibles is high-purity quartz sand, while corundum crucibles are composed of porous fused alumina, which is relatively strong and refractory. Both have good high-temperature insulation and mechanical strength. Xiaobian consulted the following information to distinguish the two:

Quartz crucible:

1. You cannot come into contact with HF. It is easier to react with caustic alkali and alkali metal carbonates at high temperatures.

2. Suitable for melting samples with fluxes made of K2S2O7 and KHSO4 and treating samples with Na2S207 (first dried at 212 degrees) as flux.

3. Quartz crucibles are fragile and easy to break, so special attention is needed when using them.

Corundum crucible:

1. It is suitable for melting samples with some weakly alkaline substances such as anhydrous Na2CO3 as fluxes, but is not suitable for melting samples with strong alkaline substances such as Na2O2 and NaOH and acidic substances (such as K2S2O7, etc.).

2. Characteristics: High temperature resistance, acid and alkali resistance, rapid cooling and heat resistance, chemical corrosion resistance.

3. Shape: arc, cylindrical. Specifications: 5-1000ml.

Through the above information, we can distinguish the two. Relatively speaking, quartz crucibles have large size, high precision, energy conservation, and relatively stable quality. However, because it is easy to break, you need to be careful when using it.
